From Persecutor to Apostle
Follow the people who stood at each turn of Saul's road, from Stephen's death to the church at Antioch.
They stoned Stephen, and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul, who was consenting unto his death (Acts 7:58–8:1).
Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, asked the high priest for letters to Damascus, that he might bring any of the Way bound to Jerusalem (Acts 9:1-2).
The Lord sent the disciple Ananias to Saul, a man of Tarsus, “a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles and kings, and the children of Israel”; Ananias laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul” (Acts 9:10-17).
In Jerusalem the disciples were all afraid of Saul, but Barnabas took him, brought him to the apostles, and declared how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus (Acts 9:26-27).
Barnabas went to Tarsus to seek for Saul, found him, and brought him unto Antioch, where for a whole year they were gathered together with the church and taught much people (Acts 11:25-26).
